Pembrey Country Park and Beach
Pembrey Country Park is a country park on the coast of South Wales, located near the village of Pembrey, Carmarthenshire, and the town of Llanelli. Pembrey Country Park consists of some 500 acres of parkland. Its southern edge is formed by the 8 miles long Cefn Sidan beach.
Burry Port harbour was built between 1830 and 1836 to replace the harbour at Pembrey, located 400 yards to the west. Burry Port was once the main coal exporting port for the nearby valleys, but the dock now houses the only marina in Carmarthenshire, and the harbour was dredged especially for this purpose.

Burry Port is a charming little harbour town within the Millennium Coastal Park, and is best known for being the place where Amelia Earhart landed after her record breaking 1928 flight across the Atlantic.
On 17 June 1928, Amelia Earhart flew from Newfoundland as a passenger, with pilots Wilmer "Bill" Stultz and Louis "Slim" Gordon in a Fokker F.VIIa/3m named Friendship, a type of seaplane known as a floatplane. On 18 June they arrived safely in Burry Port, making her the first woman to be flown across the Atlantic.
